Description

This unique-to-the-industry design eliminates the possibility of destroying your stabilizer on rocks or other obstacles encountered on the trails by adding an auxiliary stabilizer out of harm’s way. Our high-mount Stabilizer consists of a 6061 billet machined clamp with 1/2″ Grade 8 hardware, a laser-cut and powder-coated steel bracket, and the elite Carli Suspension Stainless Steel Stabilizer Shock. This steering stabilizer provides positive feel through the steering wheel while reducing tie rod slop and correcting any right pull from larger, more aggressive tires.

IFP (Internal Floating Piston) Design

The stainless steel Schrader valve shock uses an Internal Floating Piston (IFP). This dividing piston separates oil and nitrogen, maintaining constant pressure to eliminate oil foaming or performance loss commonly seen in emulsion-style stabilizers.

Purpose of a Steering Stabilizer

Contrary to popular belief, a steering stabilizer is not a magic cure for a wandering truck or death wobble. It is a damper designed to increase steering predictability while minimizing volatility, road noise, and driver fatigue. Larger, aftermarket tires require upgraded stabilizers for proper control and performance.

Types of Stabilizers

There are two main types of aftermarket stabilizers: Emulsion and IFP. Emulsion shocks mix oil and gas, often performing poorly when mounted horizontally (like steering stabilizers). Carli Stabilizers use IFP shocks, which allow the piston to remain submerged in oil regardless of orientation, maximizing damping efficiency and heat tolerance.

Construction

The body is solid 304 stainless steel with a raw-machined finish. The aluminum top-cap houses a Teflon-lined 1/2″ bearing and Schrader valve for adjusting the pre-charged nitrogen pressure (200 psi from the warehouse, adjustable to 40-70 psi). Billet rod-ends house additional 1/2″ bearings with high-misalignment pins pre-installed for bind-free motion.

Shaft and Internals

The shaft is nitrided for corrosion resistance and increased fatigue life. A plastic gunk-guard wipes contaminants from the shaft, and a snap-ring-secured main seal housing protects the internals. The piston is custom valved for larger tires, damping road forces without stiffening the steering or preventing wheel return.
