Description
In a market filled with Coilover Conversions, we stuck to the bones of this proven platform. The attention to detail is top notch and proves you can achieve top-tier performance without scavenging junk yards for steering and axles. Our goal was to build a comprehensive bolt-on system for customers seeking a reasonable lift height with massive on- and off-road performance improvements to compliment the new stance. Too many lifts are sold incomplete, leaving customers to search for compatible parts — not here. Buy the system, install, and enjoy.
This system begins with a custom Carli/Deaver Leaf Spring Pack for the front and rear. The lighter-rate, Full Progressive Leaf Springs lift the front 4.5” while the rear is lifted 2.25” by our block-eliminating spring pack. To correct geometry, a Fabricated Track Bar Drop Bracket and Pitman Arm are provided, ensuring the drag link and track bar cycle at the same ratio to eliminate bump steer. Extended Sway Bar End Links recenter the sway bar, while Extended Stainless Brake Lines firm braking and allow for added down-stroke travel.
To handle the Excursion’s size and high center of gravity, we enlisted King Shocks. The system includes 9” Travel, 2.5” Diameter Piggyback shocks up front and 12” Stroke shocks in the rear with custom reservoir routing. The only weld-in part is a double-shear rear shock mount, replacing the weak factory “T-Bar” for strength. Fabricated Bump Stop Drops ensure the springs and shocks cycle together. King shocks are finished with machined 17-4 Stainless shafts, King oil rated to -55°F, and plated steel bodies (3M wrap recommended for corrosion resistance).
Valving was finely tuned using a custom piston for the perfect on/off-road compromise. On the road, this is one of the best-riding kits we’ve developed. Body roll is reduced, corners are smooth, wheel hop and axle wrap are eliminated, and traction is maximized. Off-road, dirt roads and rutted trails can be handled at speed with ease and composure. This system is not designed for whoop pounding or big jumps but excels at light to medium off-road use.
The rear springs reduce payload to a “light” ¾-ton. If capacity is a concern, add our Excursion-specific Long-Travel Airbags to restore load rating.
Wheel & Tire Recommendation
- Lift Height: 4.5”
- Wheels: 17”-18”, max 9” wide
- Backspacing: 4.5”
- Tires: 35” E-Rated
- Note: More rubber improves compliance; larger wheel diameters will firm the ride.
