Description
Description
The AAM (American Axle & Manufacturing) axle is used in vehicles such as the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500, and it is known to be prone to ball joint failure. The AAM axle's design, particularly in the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 models, is susceptible to issues such as the ball joints wallowing out of the hole in the inner C with each ball joint replacement. This is due to the unique design of the AAM axle, where the upper and lower joints rotate in different axes, leading to increased wear and tear on the ball joints. Additionally, the non-greaseable factory AAM ball joints can suffer from lack of lubrication, contributing to their premature failure. These factors have led to frequent ball joint replacements in vehicles equipped with AAM axles, causing inconvenience, and added costs for vehicle owners.
Experience improved steering stability and eliminate frequent ball joint replacements on your Dodge Ram 2500, 3500, or Power Wagon with American Iron Offroad™'s AAM Ball Joint Delete™ System. Custom-engineered for the AAM axle, this system provides a highly durable, rebuildable solution to common ball joint issues.

American Iron Offroad™’s innovative system tackles the unique challenges of AAM axles, allowing for reliable, long-term performance and steering improvements.
The Details
Unlike the standard ball joint that uses a pin and wear surface, American Iron took a different approach with 7/8” Teflon-lined bearings in these joints. They are backed with a 2 year or 30,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first) honored by American Iron. The joint is similar to heim style joint, and is easy to service and replace, yet retains the same function necessary to the range of movement for a ball joint. A rebuild is as easy as swapping the knuckle to exchange the bearing, rather than having to press the joints in and out of the truck for service.
