Ram Unveils the All-New SRT TRX and Cummins-Powered Power Wagon

It was a huge day in the truck world yesterday — Ram officially announced not one, but *two* headline-grabbing additions to its lineup for 2027: the triumphant return of the SRT TRX supertruck and the first-ever factory Cummins-powered Power Wagon.

These releases mark a major shift in Ram’s performance and off-road strategy, and diesel fans have plenty to be excited about.

The Return of the Ram 1500 SRT TRX

Ram’s high-performance halo truck is back — and it’s more insane than ever. The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX revives the legendary performance badge with a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 that now makes an astonishing 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.

That’s thanks to a newly developed variant of the Hellcat engine, using a combination of performance parts and specialized induction systems just for this truck.

Instead of simply transplanting the old TRX engine, Ram’s engineers upgraded both tuning and hard parts. The result? More power than the Raptor R, or any other production truck for that matter.

This new TRX rides on the DT-generation Ram platform with modern electronics, advanced adaptive suspension (with up to about 14 inches of travel), and off-road-ready hardware like a full-time active transfer case and heavy-duty axles.

Inside, a tech-rich cockpit with a massive touchscreen and premium materials shows how far performance trucks have come.

Meet the First-Ever Cummins-Powered Power Wagon

For the first time in its history, Ram’s iconic Power Wagon will be offered with a diesel engine — and not just any diesel. The 2027 Power Wagon will be available with a high-output 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six making around 430 horsepower and a massive 1,075 lb-ft of torque. :

This is a big deal for off-road enthusiasts and diesel fans alike. Traditionally, the Power Wagon was only offered with a gasoline engine because of fitment challenges with diesel hardware — especially around the front winch and cooling equipment.

For this new diesel model, Ram’s engineers made the tough decision to remove the front-mounted winch to make room for the Cummins intercooler and associated components, showing how committed they are to the diesel option.

The diesel Power Wagon isn’t just powerful — it retains all of the rugged, trail-ready features the model is known for, including locking differentials, solid axles, upgraded suspension with Bilstein shocks, significant ground clearance, and skid plates.

It also boasts things like a nearly 20,000-pound towing capacity and a hefty payload — making it a true all-terrain hauler in both capability and torque.

Why This Matters to Truck Fans

The simultaneous launch of these two trucks shows Ram is taking a very modern, very performance-focused approach to its product lineup:

  • The SRT TRX returns as a *true performance supertruck* with best-in-class horsepower.
  • The Power Wagon finally gets the *diesel grunt* its fans have long asked for, delivering torque figures that are off-the-charts for the segment.

These moves also reflect broader trends in the industry — customers want both raw power *and* usable capability, whether on-road or off-road.

And while the TRX plays in a performance-centric niche, the Cummins Power Wagon positions Ram well against heavy-duty rivals that already offer diesel power in off-road trucks.

What We Know About Availability

Both trucks are slated to hit showrooms later this year (second half of 2026) as 2027 models. The Cummins Power Wagon is expected to start around $88,470 at launch, including destination charges, while the SRT TRX carries a base price north of $100,000.

For buyers in Franklin County or the greater St. Louis area considering these trucks, this means a big year ahead — and the potential for serious performance parts, aftermarket upgrades, and custom builds once these trucks arrive.

Expect BIG Aftermarket Interest

With both the SRT TRX and Cummins Power Wagon hitting the streets, diesel performance enthusiasts and aftermarket shops alike are already buzzing:

  • The SRT TRX’s Hellcat-derived engine will likely inspire performance bolt-ons, tuning support, and off-road enhancements.
  • The Cummins Power Wagon opens the door for diesel fuel system upgrades, intercooler and intake enhancements, exhaust tuning, and suspension systems tailored to heavy-duty off-road abuse.

Whether you love American V-8 muscle or world-class diesel torque, this new lineup gives drivers something to look forward to — and inspires plenty of possibilities for future build projects.
