The Dominator Suspension System
The Dominator is Carli’s pinnacle offering, boasting front Carli Signature tuned, King 3.0” remote reservoir shocks. So large, we engineered custom mounting systems front and rear for proper shock cycling and chassis reinforcement. There’s no replacement for displacement: we do not sell off-the-shelf King 3.0s. Custom pistons determine proper base flow rates, and shocks are tuned around them for the ultimate seat-of-the-pants feel. Shafts are machined and polished from solid 17-4 Stainless Steel. Unlike King’s standard shafts, there is no coating to wear off, they resist weathering, and minor chips can be smoothed without damaging the seal housing.
Front Shock Details
The front shocks utilize a 3.0” King with a large Pintop Bushing securing them to the factory location. Note: Shocks come in Silver and Blue. Custom color shocks carry a 10-12 week lead time and additional cost—contact your retailer.
A 1/4" boxed lower shock mount replaces the weak factory stamped, half-welded mount. The top index included in the side-specific mount locates the shock off the axle’s radius arm mount. Once welded in place, this provides ample clearance for the 3.0" diameter cylinders of the Dominator shocks.
Factory brake lines must be relocated to prevent interference with the shocks’ wiper cap. Carli provides extended stainless brake lines and routing brackets to fully clear the lines from the shocks.
The factory coil buckets offer minimal support, which can lead to forward bowing or slipping coils. Carli supplies machined solid mild steel supports that require front suspension disassembly, cleaning of the factory coil bucket, welding, priming, and painting. Once installed, these supports are nearly hidden by the factory isolator, preventing coil movement.
Rear Shock Details
The rear shocks are relocated from the restrictive factory frame-pocket. The tubular rear frame crossmember exits outside the frame, serving as the new upper shock mount. The bottom mount sandwiches the factory mount using two existing holes and factory hardware, aligning perfectly with the new upper mount while providing optimal tire clearance.
Because of the new shock positions, the factory bed support must be modified. Carli provides a bolt-in solution to support the bed laterally from the factory control arm bracket once the original support is removed.
An e-brake routing bracket is included to prevent cables from contacting the shocks. The bracket uses a bolt, spacer, and insulated P-clamps for secure routing.
The Details
Your truck will sit 3”-3.5” higher in the front (cab configuration dependent) with 50% more suspension travel than the factory platform thanks to the taller, lighter rate coil springs. Two base kits are offered, separated ONLY by the rear coil springs:
Option 1: R1 Coils
- 0.5″-1″ lift
- Reduced capacity soft-ride coils
- Max 1,500lb bed load
- Pictures of the springs Unloaded, +500lbs, +1,000lbs, and +1,500lbs illustrate maxed condition
