The Ram HD platform is known for its strong engines and frames, but front-end stability has historically been an issue, often resulting in “Death Wobble.” Carli’s Front End Upgrade Kit addresses the most common causes of drivability issues: Track Bar, Ball Joints, and Steering Stabilizer. Designed for both stock and lifted Rams (up to 37″ tires), this kit provides robust, serviceable replacements to eliminate front-end problems.
Track Bar
The factory track bar, with vulcanized rubber bushings, is a common source of axle play and instability. Carli’s Adjustable Track Bar centers the axle on leveled or lifted trucks, improving steering input, reducing deflection, and dampening vibrations. Constructed from 1.5″ OD, 3/8″ wall tube, the bar is stronger than its mounting brackets and features a 7/8″ FK Bearing chromoly race heim joint at the axle end, secured with a proprietary JAMMIT nut for increased surface area.
At the frame, a 7/8″ FK Bearing Uniball is encased in a proprietary composite shell, preloaded into a heavy-duty housing and locked with a snap ring, delivering unmatched service life and precision performance.
Steering Stabilizer
Unlike OEM oil-type stabilizers prone to cavitation, the Carli Steering Stabilizer uses an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) design to prevent foaming. The fully-rebuildable unit features a stainless steel body, machined billet aluminum rod ends with 1/2″ spherical bearings, and a hardened black nitride shaft. An adjustable nitrogen chamber (70–200 psi) allows for correction of radial tire pull, ensuring superior damping and precise control on and off-road.
Upper Ball Joints
The OEM upper ball joints use soft bronze bushings that deform under load, causing lateral movement. Carli Heavy Duty Upper Ball Joints eliminate the bushing with a two-tier design machined from heat-treated, high-strength materials. The upper surface area is more than doubled to distribute loads, and internal grease ports ensure full lubrication via a zerk fitting for a lifetime of service.
Lower Ball Joints
Factory lower ball joints rely on a plastic liner that degrades under the truck’s weight. Carli’s Lower Ball Joints replace this with a precision-machined, wear-resistant surface that self-burnishes over time. With proper greasing, these joints provide a lifetime of smooth operation and durability without internal wear components.
