Can I pick up my order or have it installed at your shop?

Absolutely. We offer local pickup on most products and full professional installation at our shop in Washington, MO. Whether you just want to grab your parts or have our techs handle the install, we’ve got you covered. Give us a quick call at 636-429-7020 or message us to schedule a visit — we’ll make sure the parts are ready when you arrive.

How do I know if this part fits my vehicle?

Unsure if it’ll fit? No problem — that’s what we’re here for. Send us your vehicle’s year, make, and model, and we’ll verify fitment before you order. We can also point you toward compatible upgrades or supporting parts if needed.

What if I need to return a product or it’s defective?

Most unused items can be returned within 30 days in their original packaging. Some products are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty as well. If something arrives damaged or doesn’t meet your expectations, just let us know — we’ll help you get it replaced, refunded, or repaired. (Tracking updates are also emailed automatically once your order ships.)

What's the lead time on custom or fabricated parts?

Many of our parts are built to order — especially fabricated or performance components. These can take additional time to produce before shipping. Lead times vary by manufacturer and demand, but we’ll always keep you updated along the way. If you’re working on a tight schedule, reach out before ordering at 636-429-7020 and we’ll confirm current availability or estimated ship dates.

Description

Stop the 6.7L Cummins Roller Lifter Failure at the Source

In 2019, Ram switched the 6.7L Cummins to a hydraulic roller valvetrain. The needle-bearing roller wheel inside those factory lifters is a known failure point — when it lets go, it can wipe the cam lobe and send metal debris through your oil, turning a lifter problem into a full engine teardown. The Hamilton Cams Flat Tappet Conversion Kit removes that bearing assembly entirely and replaces it with a forged flat-tappet valvetrain. No needle bearing in the load path means the failure mode is gone — not reset with another roller lifter that carries the same risk.

No Tune Required

This is the one most buyers get wrong: this kit does not require a tune. The 178/208 cam profile is engineered to run on your factory calibration. No programmer, no aftermarket tuner, and all factory emissions equipment stays in place. It's a drop-in reliability upgrade — owners report quicker spool-up, better throttle response, lower EGTs, and small fuel-economy gains, all on a stock, fully emissions-compliant truck.

What's in the Kit

  • 178/208 forged camshaft — forged (not bar-stock cut) for a denser, more uniform grain structure
  • DLC-coated steel tappets — gas-carburized and polished for a hard, stable base under the coating
  • Heavy-duty pushrods — 3,500+ lb buckling force vs. ~1,800 lb factory
  • Adjustable rocker arms with DLC-coated trunnions and upgraded oiling

The camshaft is included — there is no separate cam to buy.

What You'll Also Need to Complete the Job

Replacing the cam and lifters means the head comes off, so the kit does not include gaskets, oil, or install tooling. To do the job once and do it right, add:

  • Top-end gasket set (required for the head-off install)
  • Approved flat-tappet oil — see spec below (wrong oil voids the warranty)
  • Correct oil filter — Fleetguard Stratapore LF16035

See the recommended add-ons on this page to bundle everything in one order.

Professional Installation Available

Want it installed rather than DIY? The FASS Motorsports team can quote the kit plus professional installation at our shop — reach out below and we'll put a number together for your truck.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit require a tune?
No. The 178/208 cam runs on factory calibration with all emissions equipment in place. No tuner or programmer needed.

Is the camshaft included, or do I buy it separately?
Included. The kit comes with the 178/208 forged cam, DLC-coated tappets, pushrods, and adjustable rocker arms. No separate cam purchase.

What else do I need to install it?
A top-end gasket set, an approved flat-tappet oil, and the correct filter. Tooling like a cam removal tray makes the job easier. See the add-ons on this page.

Will it fit my truck?
Any 2019–2024 Ram 2500/3500/4500/5500 with the 6.7L Cummins and factory hydraulic roller lifters. If your block or head has been surfaced, contact us first to verify fitment.

Can I run more power / higher RPM?
This is built as a reliability fix for stock and mild builds on OEM springs. Sustained high RPM and high spring pressure shorten the life of the DLC coating and are not recommended.
