Installation Highlights
Machine the block and head for maximum flatness — especially important past 800 HP — and always use a radiused cutter for precise grooves and the best gasket-to-wire contact. Coat nuts, washers and threads thoroughly for even torque across all studs, and never exceed the manufacturer’s torque limits. Torque to 130 ft-lbs before first startup, hot retorque at operating temperature while the engine is still warm, then check valve lash — each retorque compresses the gasket further and reduces lash.
