Fitment Notes
- High-strength studs required for proper clamp load, particularly with this competition gasket. Be sure to use 625 studs.
- Head must be within .003″ end-to-end for optimal sealing.
- Engines under 800 HP: cut grooves in the head.
- If you do not surface the block, use an axe sharpening stone with 320 or finer to clean up the deck surface.
Installation Highlights
Best practice is to machine both the head and block flat, and always use a .120″ radiused cutter for precise grooves. Apply a liberal amount of lube to the nut, washer and threads so every stud sees consistent clamp load; never exceed manufacturer torque limits. Torque to 130 ft-lbs at startup, retorque hot at operating temperature, re-adjust valve lash, and retorque at least once more before full load or RPM.
