Built for the 1989–1998 5.9L 12-valve Cummins, the Hamilton Cams 12V 178/208 Camshaft Combo upgrades every part of the 12v valvetrain at once — cam, extreme duty pushrods, 155 lb springs, retainers, locks and tappets — for low-RPM response without giving up big HP and RPM potential.

Fitment Notes
- For “drop in” fitment: no more than .020″ piston protrusion and at least .055″ valve face depth with a standard gasket.
- Short on piston-to-valve clearance? You can still run an oversize head gasket or cut valve reliefs.
- Not for sale in the state of CA.
Installation Highlights
Prime before you fire it. With the fuel system disconnected, crank on the starter — no more than 10 seconds at a time — until oil pressure reads or oil is coming out of the rocker arms on cylinder #6. Then start it, run to operating temperature and shut down. Do the hot re-torque (it changes lash), then set valves last at .010″ intake / .020″ exhaust. Loose lash on the last 3 cylinders comes from poor lubrication at initial start-up; use assembly lube and confirm oil pressure.

- Approved oil required. Run a 15W-40 (or 5W-40 in sub-zero conditions) with adequate zinc, phosphorus and molybdenum; thin or low-additive oils lack the shear strength a flat tappet needs.
- Approved: Valvoline Full Synthetic 15W-40, Valvoline Synthetic Blend 15W-40, Valvoline All-Terrain 15W-40, Schaeffer’s 15W-40, Mobil Delvac Extreme 15W-40, LIQUI MOLY Touring High Tech 15W-40, Driven Racing Oil 15W-40, Redline 15W-40.
- Acceptable: Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 15W-40, Shell Rotella T5 15W-40.
- Preferred filter: Fleetguard Stratapore LF16035.
- Running a non-approved oil voids the warranty. Warranty claims must include the failed parts and an oil sample.
