Description

Pintop Suspension System

The Pintop is the Backcountry on steroids. This system is our most popular, all-around suspension solution and rides best with the Full Progressive Leaf Springs. The Pintop is a Jack-of-all-trades system every Ram owner can benefit from. Raising the Ram platform and adding 2.5” diameter shocks proves these trucks should come equipped with 2.5” shocks from the factory. Higher-end systems provide more off-road capability and slightly more on-road performance, but the Pintop delivers unmatched ride quality per dollar spent, making it a best-seller for years to come.

The Details:

This system features Carli-specific, blueprinted King 2.5” shocks on all four corners. We designed custom pistons to determine proper base flow rates, tuning the shocks based on seat-of-the-pants feel. All King shocks are finished with shafts machined and polished from a solid piece of 17-4 Stainless Steel. Unlike standard shafts, there is no coating to wear off, and small chips can be smoothed with emery cloth without damaging the seal housing. The shocks are filled with King oil rated to -55° F and built with plated steel bodies. For long-term exposure to harsh weather, we recommend wrapping them in 3M for a replaceable moisture barrier.

Your truck will sit 2.5”-3” higher in the front (year/cab configuration dependent) with 50% more suspension travel than the factory platform thanks to taller, lighter-rate coil springs. The rear is lifted 1”-2” via a Progressive Add-A-Pack or Full Progressive Leaf Pack. The Add-A-Pack replaces the factory overload with a 5-leaf progressive pack for increased traction and predictability. The Full Progressive Leaf Pack replaces the entire factory spring assembly, increasing travel and comfort throughout the usable travel stroke. Payload reduction from a standard 2500 (~15%) can be restored to 3500 SRW capacity with Long Travel Airbags.

For proper front sway bar engagement with added down-travel, two options are available (unless 1994-2002, then only one): extended Sway Bar End Links or the replacement Torsion Sway Bar. The end links use ½” FK Rod-Ends and in-house machined 17-4 stainless bodies, reusing factory pillow-bushings. The Torsion sway bar replaces the factory assembly with a torsion bar supported by fabricated drop brackets and Delrin bushings. Fabricated sway bar arms and dual 5/8” FK heim end links complete the package.

With a 3” front lift, the front axle shifts ¾” toward the driver’s side and ½” back toward the cab. The system includes an Adjustable Track Bar to recenter the axle and reduce deflection. Extended control arms are recommended to shift the axle forward to its new center of travel.

Wheel and Tire:

  • Fits up to a 37” tire with High Clearance Control Arms and Full Progressive Leaf Springs on wheels up to 9” wide with 5.75” backspacing.
  • If running factory control arms or wheels, we recommend an All Terrain 35” tire.
  • More rubber improves small bump compliance at proper inflation pressures.
  • Ride will firm up slightly with larger wheel diameters.
