Transmission
This upgraded transmission is built to deliver improved durability, consistent shifting, and reliable performance for high-load street and towing applications. It features an upgraded valve body, upgraded governor solenoid, and upgraded governor pressure transducer (47RE/48RE), providing twice the burst pressure of the factory components and increasing line pressure to 190–200 PSI. Shuttle shifting issues are eliminated, and a modified manual valve ensures proper lubrication in all gear positions.
Factory thrust bushings are replaced with roller-style Torrington bearings to reduce friction and extend service life. Clutch capacity is significantly increased with 6 direct clutches, 5 forward clutches, 6 overdrive clutches, and 10 overdrive direct clutches. A high-temperature, high-energy Raybestos band, paired with a billet band lever and billet band strut, provides superior holding power and durability.
Strength is further enhanced with a billet “Big” fine-spline input shaft, designed to absorb shock from rapid throttle inputs and high-horsepower applications. A drilled intermediate shaft improves lubrication for increased reliability.
Cooling and fluid capacity are upgraded with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, which adds 2 quarts of additional fluid capacity. Integrated heat-dissipating fins help reduce operating temperatures, while a magnetic drain plug captures metallic debris. Additional protection is provided by a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit, and a cooler line case saver is installed in every transmission. Each unit is dyno tested to ensure proper operation and performance before delivery.
Torque Converter
The torque converter features an enhanced stall speed optimized for street and towing applications. Machined pistons and heavy-duty springs absorb engagement shock, while a stamp-forged, one-piece cover eliminates warpage caused by clutch heat and allows for more rebuild cycles over the life of the converter.
A trapezoid tooth design with tighter tolerances improves torque transfer, while self-centering teeth increase contact area to reduce wear and chatter. Thrust bearings are used in place of plastic thrust washers for improved durability. A precision riveting process ensures proper alignment and eliminates vibration or embrittlement associated with welding. Cast stator designs maximize torque multiplication, and new sprag components ensure long-term reliability. Furnace-brazed fins reduce internal leakage for improved fluid coupling efficiency, and overall weight is reduced by 12 pounds compared to competing designs.

This transmission and torque converter package is backed by a 36-month or 150,000-mile parts warranty, along with 12 months or 24,000 miles of labor coverage.
