’89–’98 Fire Ring Gasket – .070″ Thickness, 4.560″ Wire O.D.

Upgrade your 12V Cummins (1989–1998) with this Fire Ring Gasket, specially engineered to handle high boost pressures and extreme horsepower. With a .070″ thickness (1.5 mm) and .105″ wire at 4.560″ O.D., you’ll gain a robust seal that stands up to the stresses of heavy-duty and performance applications.

Gasket & Groove Specifications

  • Thickness: .070″ (1.5 mm)
  • Wire O.D.: 4.560″ (.105″ wire)
  • Groove depth
    • .025″–.026″ depth with a .120″ radius cutter

Installation Best Practices

  1. Machining for Flatness

    • Achieve maximum sealing by machining both the head and block—especially crucial over 800 HP.
    • Under 800 HP: Cutting grooves in just the head
    • Over 800, be sure to run 625 studs
    • Always use a .120″ radiused cutter for precise, consistent groove profiles.
  2. Studs Are Essential

    • Use quality studs to ensure proper clamp load—especially with our competition gasket.
    • Apply liberal lubrication on nuts, washers, and threads for even torque and a consistent seal.
    • Never exceed the manufacturer’s torque limits; fasteners at full torque store significant energy.
  3. Torque Procedure

    • Initial: Torque to 130 ft-lb before the first startup.
    • Hot Retorque: After reaching operating temp, retorque while the engine is warm.
    • Check Valve Lash: Gasket compression changes valve lash; readjust as needed.

Why Choose Our Fire Ring Gasket?

  • Reliable High-Performance Sealing: Tested to handle extreme pressures for racing, towing, or heavy-duty use.
  • Proven Durability: .070″ thickness ensures a tough, stable seal in boosted applications.
  • Ease of Installation: Straightforward torque procedure with standard machining practices.
