Whether you just want to grab your parts or have our techs handle the install, we’ve got you covered. Give us a quick call at 636-429-7020 or message us to schedule a visit — we’ll make sure the parts are ready when you arrive.

How do I know if this part fits my vehicle?

Unsure if it’ll fit? No problem — that’s what we’re here for. Send us your vehicle’s year, make, and model, and we’ll verify fitment before you order. We can also point you toward compatible upgrades or supporting parts if needed.

What if I need to return a product or it’s defective?

Most unused items can be returned within 30 days in their original packaging. Some products are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty as well. If something arrives damaged or doesn’t meet your expectations, just let us know — we’ll help you get it replaced, refunded, or repaired. (Tracking updates are also emailed automatically once your order ships.)

What's the lead time on custom or fabricated parts?

Many of our parts are built to order — especially fabricated or performance components. These can take additional time to produce before shipping. Lead times vary by manufacturer and demand, but we’ll always keep you updated along the way. If you’re working on a tight schedule, reach out before ordering at 636-429-7020 and we’ll confirm current availability or estimated ship dates.

Built for the drag strip and stock-class pulling, the Hamilton Cams 188/220 Steel Camshaft fits 1989–2018 5.9L/6.7L Cummins 12v and 24v engines, with a 1700-4500 RPM range, EGT drops of 200-300 and 40-60hp gains seen depending on fueling and turbo.

Why Choose the Hamilton Cams 188/220 Steel Camshaft?

  • Competition grind – Listed for drag strip and stock class pulling applications.
  • Cooler EGT – Drops EGT 200-300.
  • Real gains – Increased power Hamilton has seen: 40-60hp, depending on fueling and turbo.
  • Usable RPM range – 1700-4500.
  • Steel construction – The steel version of the 188/220 grind.
Fitment Notes
  • 12v “drop in”: no more than .018″ piston protrusion and at least .055″ valve face depth with a standard head gasket and a 99 intake centerline.
  • 24v “drop in”: no more than .018″ piston protrusion and at least .038″ valve face depth with a standard gasket.
  • Short on piston-to-valve clearance? You can still run an oversize head gasket or cut valve reliefs.
  • Although considered a drop-in cam, it is important to check clearances.
  • The steel version requires at least two bushings installed in the cam tunnel, otherwise the steel could eat into the cast iron block.
  • Hamilton always recommends new lifters when changing a cam.
Installation Highlights

Apply a liberal amount of quality assembly lube to the cam and never let the engine start without oil pressure. On a new engine, put assembly lube in the oil pump and prime the oil filter. Disconnect the fuel system and spin the engine on the starter until oil pressure reads or oil comes out of the rocker arms. Once verified, start it and run to operating temp. If you need to re-torque or hot-torque the head, do it before adjusting valves — re-torquing changes lash, so set lash last. Change the oil after break-in.
